Oh, the holidays...
So, I really do not have a good excuse as to why it has been over a month since i have blogged. anyway, here is what i got. i have been wanting to post more pics, but i have not had a chance, so this blog will just be writing and i will try to post pics later. let's start with thanksgiving. we celebrated with my parents, sis, the Deeba family and gabe. it was a lot of fun, good food, good conversation, football, bloody marys, and some poker (it really isn't thanksgiving without football, bloody marys, and poker). :) then, michael and i went to austin to help May-Ling celebrate her engagement. Leith proposed to her at the UT tower where they first met and then there was a celebration with good friends and family afterwards that her mom and sis put together with leith's help. I am so glad that Michael and I were able to make it. We stayed with my brother and Elizabeth, so we were able to see their new home. it was so beautiful. it is in a great location and the backyard is amazing.
so, on to school. we finished our finals and are now on a short break between semesters. we both did great this semester, grades wise. it is always a great feeling to have your hard work pay off. we are going to take time off from school until january. classes don't start until the middle of january, but we both have some school work to take care of before the semester starts. i have a research project to continue working on and finish and also a continuing education presentation in january that i need to prepare for. i will also be teaching my first class all by myself next semester, so i would like to start the prep work for that also. tons of fun. :)
we also just bought an elliptical machine for the house. next semester is going to be so busy and i wanted to continue working out regularly, so this was our splurge gift. I dont usually want a lot of things, but i really did want this. it just arrived yesterday, so we plan to put it together tomorrow. wish us luck.
we are heading to amarillo christmas eve to celebrate christmas with michael's family. i am really excited to see everyone. i am so not excited about being in the cold, but it will be worth it to spend some time with michael's family. then, we are going to hang with my family the sunday after christmas, then back to work on monday. the holidays just seem to fly by.
we had our work party last night and it was tons of fun. we all went out to dinner and did a white elephant gift exchange. i ended up going home with some lotion and packaged smoked salmon. mmmm, delicious. we also headed over to a holiday party that one of the Phd students hosted. it was a lot of fun to spend time with my student friends.
this weekend will be full of some more family time, my sis is in town, and some relaxing and maxing. have a very merry christmas everyone and see you in the new year. Here are some pics for your enjoyment. :)
