We are as ready as can be...
This week starts the beginning of the craziness. Michael and I attended his school orientation on Friday and it was very interesting. From the sounds of what everyone had to say, it seems as if Michael will be studying or going to class all day, every day. We are hoping to be able to have Sunday off every week just to chill a bit. During the orientation, they had a session just for spouses/family that had attended the orientation. They were very quick to tell us that we, as family, need to be supportive and not ask for too much from the student while he/she is in school. Being a social worker, it was very funny to me how they presented this information. Anyway, it was also very eye opening to see some of the situations of the other students and their families. One family (student, his wife, and their 3 young kids) just moved here from Utah to start the program and next August, they will be moving to California where his clinicals are. They are both not working and they are paying for everything via loans. Also, she doesn't know anyone here or anything about the metroplex. Sounds pretty tough. I guess it doesn't seem so bad to have michael live in Lousiana for a year or so. :) Anyway, he will be here for a year and then clinicals (when he moves to Louisiana) start August 17, 2009.
I also start classes tomorrow. I am looking forward to getting this research project done this semester. I am also really looking forward to learning stats so I can have a better idea about how to do the quantitative analysis. I am hoping this semester just flies by.
Other than that, there really is nothing much going on. We are just getting ready to become book worms. We hung out with my parents and a friend or ours, Jen, yesterday, which was tons of fun. Anyway, please keep us in your thoughts as we begin this journey. I am sure we will make it through, but I am also sure it is going to be tough. i will do my best to keep up with my blog this semester, so that you all know we are still alive over here in Arlington.
